Everyone should have a spot in their home that is relaxing and welcoming. Now with the new (necessary) trend of staycations, making improvements to your backyard is a great way to make use of unused space and have an outdoor space to get away to.
I hate to admit this, but my backyard sucks. Really. I have a deck with peeling pant and no furniture. My yard is home to abandoned toys, random plants, too many critters and overgrown bushes, trees and vines. The yard is the perfect size to make improvements and I can even picture what I would do. Maybe the ideas I have for my yard will fuel some in you.
First, I’d tackle the deck. A new coat of weather-resistant paint, comfy patio chairs and side tables under a screened in awning will work perfectly for sunny days or cool nights. After cutting down all the invading plants, a raised cement platform with an outdoor fireplace or pit surrounded by stylish wooden loungers would be perfect on the right side of my yard. I would add a cottage-like shed in the far left corner to store my yard essentials. And top the entire project off with stone paths, colorful flowers and a shaded hammock for relaxing and napping. Can’t you just picture me enjoying my morning cup of coffee in my new backyard?
