Hair raising
Over my lifetime I think I have had every hairstyle imaginable. Of course, at a young age my mother styled my hair in ponytails and braids. In my early teens I had what some call a curly perm. Then I wore my hair straight by getting a relaxer. After about 10 years or so of wearing that style I decided to go natural by growing out the chemicals and wearing locks (what some call dreadlocks).
After 11 years of locks that were about 30 inches in length, I cut them off and started wearing my hair in its natural state.
So what’s the point of my trip down the hair memory lane? I’ve learned that regardless of the hairstyle I wear the best way to take care of it is to have the proper instruments. Most recently I’ve been wearing my hair straight thanks to a couple of Christmas presents I treated myself to: A fancy, professional hair dryer with attachments (two of which I have no idea what to do with) and a flat iron with an ionic thing-a-ma-jiggy.
