Friday night fun
There are a lot of Friday nights where the only thing I do, after my younger children are settled in for the night, is work. Today, however, was different. My daughter was coming home from college for the weekend and on her way she sent me a text that said, “We should go out to eat and rent a movie from…” My response: “Okay big spender!”
Not only is it sweet for her to want to spend time with me and treat me to dinner, but I immediately knew that it’s exactly what I needed… a brief reprieve from working nonstop and trying to handle the everyday responsibilities of life. For once, I want to do what most people look forward to doing on Friday night and that’s relax and have a little fun.
We went to a local pizza place that serves good wings and other entrees then we stopped to get a movie. Had I planned in advance I could have used an HBO Store coupon to order a movie we haven’t seen, and I’m sure there are a lot because I don’t subscribe to HBO.
