Rainy day activities
Woowee… it’s raining out there. Two of my children are in their room watching their second or third movie of the day. The youngest is watching a cartoon in the living room. The man of the house is running an errand, and I’m in the middle of cleaning. We’re all doing different things – sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly, sometimes lazily – because our plans of going to the park have been thwarted. With a rainy-day alternative plan we wouldn’t be randomly deciding what we’re going to do with this indoor time.
There are quite a few games in the closet, but I – for one – don’t feel like playing something I’ve played a thousand times. I could have grabbed some toys and games while I was Internet shopping the other day, but I’ll do it after the fact so we’ll be prepared the next time.
My man likes to involve the children in learning opportunities whether they’re working or playing, and I saw some Constructive Playthings coupons that would be great to take advantage of to enhance some of their learning experiences. Constructive Playthings has a Hardwood Giant Magnifier that would be perfect for my small trio who love to investigate bugs and other things.
Yesterday they learned that some worms can be cut in half and grow again. They also encountered a stink bug. Those things alone, plus some interesting things inside the house, would make for great learning experiences.
The next time it rains we’ll definitely be prepared for some fun and games that will lead to new learning opportunities. What do you do on rainy days?
