My second child is “graduating” from kindergarten this month and although I am excited for him I am a little annoyed that the ceremony requires purchasing yet another thing for this public school education. First of all, let me explain: We’re a casual type family. My children wear jeans, workout gear, basketball jerseys… the girls wear casual skirts, dresses and leggings and there are very few dressy clothes in this house. Saying that leads to this: My son does not have black slacks and a white dress shirt or a tie!

It’s possible it’s something he can use again, but we haven’t had a need for it. First of all, he wears a uniform to school – a dark blue polo shirt and khaki pants or shorts. Secondly, when he can wear his own clothes it’s jeans. Thirdly, his teacher has “ordered” the purchasing of numerous items for projects. Can you say about four each month? That money – albeit how little – adds up.

Now that I’ve ranted, let’s get down to business. Since I don’t want to spend a lot of money on these items I’m going to have to find a great deal. I looked around for slacks and a shirt that I like, but I haven’t had any luck thus far. However, I did see a pair of shoes that I think will be perfect.
