Birthday celebrations
In five days my oldest daughter will be 19 years old and it would be nice to give her a celebration that’s befitting of a young lady who is about to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey: Adulthood.
No, I’m not being overly dramatic, I’m just stating the obvious. This is her last year as a teenager and, for some reason, I feel like the celebration and the gifts she receives should represent this right of passage, so to speak. What would be some good things to do or good gifts to give, which fit a tight budget, and made the day memorable and magical?
So far I have a few ideas:
- A mother/daughter scrapbook that depicts everything from the first time I held her in my arms to this year when we took a silly picture together. The book would include photos, poems, pictures we’ve given each other and a compilation of memories.
- A sibling photo book that includes pictures of her and her three young siblings over the years since their births. I have some very sweet pictures of babies being cuddled by their big sister. Where to find something like that? There are always great Vistaprint deals and they product fabulous photo products.
Other ideas include jewelry, luggage, household items, gift cards with everything presented at a surprise birthday party. How’s that for a birthday celebration?
