Kid-friendly backyards
It’s Saturday morning and the children – three of them – are bouncing, running, crawling, yelling, playing and doing everything but being quiet. Although I know it’s inevitable that I will have to leave the comforts of my bedroom and immerse myself in the activity and noise, I’m still sitting here trying to pretend that my head isn’t pounding and that three children aren’t bouncing off of the walls. And the floors. And the furniture.
I wish I had that perfectly manucured and family-ready yard where I could instruct them to dress and go outside to enjoy the confines of a fun, outdoor play yard. I could enjoy a few quiet moments with a cup of hot coffee while glancing out the window. What would the yard look like? Lush green grass, a hammock, a path to a small gazebo, a swing set with a slide and monkey bars. And one final element that would stay up from the first hints of warmth in the Spring to the first cool, frosty night of Winter: A Bounce House. Yup, if I could, I would buy a bounce house and enclose it with a netted canopy to protect it from the weather. (There are Bounce Superstore deals to help with this fantasy!)
The children could enjoy their Saturday mornings in the comfort of the child-friendly backyard and I could enjoy quiet. They could bounce and play to their heart’s content, tire themselves out and sleep like logs. They could even have meals in the gazebo or a small, child-sized picnic table. Inside the house would be serene, clean and quiet.
A mom can dream, right? Wish me luck, I’m off to corral the noisy troops.
